The most splendid beauties of the universe are mute. --Zhuang
Zi (Zhi Bei You)
It is not knowledge, but the act of learning, not possession but the act of
getting there, which grants the greatest enjoyment.
--Karl Friedrich Gauss(1777-1855)
I am Assistant Professor of Quantitative Methods in the
Department of
Finance and Quantitative Analysis,
College of Business Administration. I
currently teach management science courses and business statistics at both
the undergraduate and MBA levels. Prior to joining
Georgia Southern,
I held academic positions in Silberman College of Business at
Fairleigh Dickinson
University, Rutgers University
Business School and
Jilin
University. In these positions, I
taught operations management, deterministic optimization models, managerial
economics, and calculus. I also worked at AT&T
for three and half years before returning to academia in 1998.
I received my Ph.D. in economics with a co-major in statistics from North Carolina State University.
My undergraduate degree is in physics from
Jilin
University, mainland China. I came to the United States in 1987 to pursue
graduate training on a full scholarship from Ford Foundation.
My research interests span areas of supply chain inventory management, econometric
demand modeling, business forecasting, marketing response modeling, and
environmental and resource economics. I have published articles in
Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Operations Research Letters,
International Journal of Production Economics, and Environmental and
Resource Economics.
While at AT&T, I was a manager at the Marketing Sciences group, before that,
a senior analyst in Business Operations Analysis group, a Bell Labs division
(later renamed AT&T Labs) from 1994 to 1997. Projects I worked on
included designing and developing a SAS-based information system for winback marketing support, tracking retention programs, targeting markets and
promotions, and measuring preferences for new products.
I am married and the father of two beautiful boys. For fun, I enjoy
playing tennis and volleyball all year round and skiing in the winter. |
