U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Chad Montgomery served as a Department of Defense contractor prior to his journey to entrepreneurship. He was given the opportunity to help military members and their families prepare for deployment to locations such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Unfortunately, upon completing his contract, his position was eliminated.
Chad described his perspective at the time as somewhere between “Shock and Denial” and “Acceptance and Hope.”
The experience ultimately led Chad to pursue his love of cooking by offering services as a “Personal Chef” where the customer bought the ingredients and he cooked in return for a donation. Everything changed after he catered a small private wedding. At this time, Chad began attending conferences and workshops in hopes of learning what he would need to make his dream a reality. He began using and growing fresh ingredients to improve the quality of his products.
Chad explained, “I have been slowly building a farm, ‘Farm Kissed Organics.’ To date, we have goats and a variety of young and mature fruiting trees; Pecans, Peaches, Pears, Asian Pears, Apples, Figs, and Plums. We have also been planting berries that include Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries and Dew Berries. I am experimenting with pineapples and lemons, stay tuned on that one.”
