Important Advisement Information to Share With Your Student
COBA’s
Advisement Process:
1 – Determine Faculty Advisor
Students may determine their Faculty Advisor’s name by logging into
their WINGS account and clicking the “Student Services and Financial
Aid” link.
2 – Make appointment
with Advisor
The student is responsible for scheduling an appointment with their advisor.
Each faculty advisor has the option of how to schedule advisement appointments.
Most have a sign-up sheet posted on their office door, while others prefer
to advise students during their posted office hours. The student simply
needs to go by their assigned advisor's office to introduce themselves
and determine the preferred advisement process.
3 – Prepare
for Advisement Appointment
Prior to advisement appointment, students need to print their current
course schedule. Students will need to review the Curriculum Information
for their major to decide which courses they need and plan to take for
the upcoming semester.
4 – Pick up
academic folder from the Student Services Center
Students must have their Student ID card in order to check out their folder.
Students need to make sure they get the appropriate registration form
before heading to their advisement appointment.
5 – Meet with
Faculty Advisor
Students will meet with their Faculty Advisor to review which courses
are needed for the next semester. Registration forms must be signed by
both the Advisor and the student.
6 – Return folder
to Student Services Center and get RAN
After advisement appointment, students will return their advisement folder
to the Student Services Center to get their RAN (Registration Access Number).
Students will not be able to sign up for classes until they receive their
RAN.
