Jie taught at Idaho State University and Western Michigan University prior to joining the faculty
at Georgia Southern University. Her industry experience includes seven years managing a global
supply chain of industrial products for a major international firm in China.

Jie’s research seeks to understand the social cultural surroundings and cognitive processes that
drive employee behavior and organizational effectiveness. Her current research topics include
the congruence between organizational culture and national culture in global business operations,
cognitive mechanisms of judgment and decision making, the effects of organizational justice
and structure on workplace deviance, the role of cultural ambidexterity and organizational
capabilities in innovation and performance. Her paper on teaching design thinking in
Organizational Behavior won the McGraw Hill/Irwin Best Paper Award at the 2016 MBAA
International Conference.

Jie is a member of the Academy of Management, Decision Sciences Institute, Southern
Management Association, and MBAA International. She currently serves as a program chair for
the MBAA International Conference.
