GMAT Prep Course

The College of Business Administration at Georgia Southern University has partnered with Bell Curves to provide on-line GMAT preparation course. The GMAT course employs unique skill-building drills and online resources designed to develop the necessary understanding of test content and refine test taking strategies for the exam. The combination of skilled instruction, constant support, expert test-preparation advice, and copious practice succeeds in improving ones performance far more than other programs or books.

The course will be delivered over 7 weeks, with one 3-hour class each week. The class will be conducted via online through live conference call supported by internet whiteboard technology. There is overwhelming evidence on the efficacy of online instruction, especially as it is used in conjunction with web whiteboard technology and live conference calling.

••• Course Overview
The Bell Curves course is divided into a weekly class session and a workshop session. During the class session, key strategies, rules, and techniques are introduced. Each new concept is introduced by presenting the fundamental rules necessary and then proceeding to demonstrate how these rules are applied in the context of the GMAT. The weekly online workshop session follows the class session later in the week, during which students are afforded the opportunity to practice the strategies learned in class and receive live chat support to address any questions or lingering issues.

••• Materials
Materials will be provided by Bell Curves and will be supported by Bell Curves instructors via live instruction, email question and answer, and online live chat. The primary teaching material will be the Bell Curves GMAT Workbook, which contains sample problems covering all content on the GMAT, and corresponding homework assignments. Students will have access to the Bell Curves Online GMAT Center, which provides students with online teaching support and additional computer-based practice material.

••• Instructors
While all Bell Curves instructors hold college degrees, have completed a rigorous training process, and have scored above the 95th percentile on the official GMAT, their most important attribute is the care and support they provide their students. Bell Curves instructors are intimately involved in the creation of course material, syllabi, and test-taking strategies. By combining the resources of the Bell Curves research and development team with extraordinary teaching expertise, our teachers customize the presentation of the material to most effectively reach each group of students.

••• Participants
The students will be able to intimately interact with their instructor since the student to teacher ratio will be no greater than 9 to 1. Participants are encouraged to provide e-mail and telephone number to aid in interaction with instructor. The price for this course is $329.00 per student.

Skills Needed For a GREAT Score
• Knowledge - All questions are based on base knowledge of certain rules, principles, and formulas. Any preparation should begin with learning the fundamental formulas, without this knowledge all the strategy and "tricks" are useless.

• Recognition - Don't simply memorize rules. You can't apply a rule if you don't recognize that the rule is being tested. Do not simply memorize how to approach a problem, lean the indicators that a particular topic is being tested. On harder problems, the topic tested will be more difficult to recognize learn how to recognize.

• Execution - Your ability to accurately apply your knowledge to a given problem will ultimately determine whether you get a question right or wrong. Make sure your calculation skills in math are sharp. Make sure your ability to recognize accurate paraphrases in verbal.
