Before starting MBA classes, students must show mastery of four basic business areas:
Financial Accounting (ex. ACCT 2101)
Microeconomics (ex. ECON 2106)
Corporate Finance (ex. FINC 3131)
Business Statistics (ex. BUSA 3131)
Typically, if you have an undergraduate degree in business, you have completed these courses. However, if you have an undergraduate degree in something other than business, then you will have to satisfy these prerequisites prior to beginning 7000-level coursework. You may take the undergraduate course(s) or complete the required prerequisites in an online module format available through the MBA office at an additional cost.
Even if you “satisfy” the prerequisites, if your skills need some refreshing, the MBA office makes the online modules available at a much lower cost.
In addition, students will need to be familiar with spreadsheet software (ex. Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheet). Suggested learning materials can be obtained through the MBA office. In order to find out which, if any, prerequisite courses need to be completed, you may send a copy of your unofficial transcripts to Karen Wells, Recruiting Coordinator, at email@example.com.
