Biography

Monique Murfield, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Logistics at Georgia Southern University. She holds a PhD in Logistics from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is originally from Ohio, where she completed her BSBA and MBA degrees at Bowling Green State University. Prior to returning to academia, her professional experience includes several years working as a global buyer and manager of inbound logistics for Pressure Connections Corp. in Columbus, Ohio.

Commensurate with this experience, she enjoys teaching International Logistics to undergraduates at Georgia Southern University. She also serves as a faculty advisor for the student-led Georgia Southern Logistics Association and works closely with companies to mentor, educate, and place students in leadership and logistics manager positions.

Her current research focuses on buyer-supplier relationships, specifically on environmental supply chain management and supplier accommodation of customers. Monique has published in the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, the Marketing Management Journal, and the Leadership and Organizational Development Journal. Monique is also involved with and presents at annual conferences for the Institute of Supply Management, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and the Decision Sciences Institute. In her free time, Monique enjoys being outside and loves spending time with her husband on their small horse farm.
