Dean Amason joined the faculty from The University of Georgia, where he served on the faculty since 1996. His research focus is strategic decision making and top management team processes. He is the author of Strategic Management: From Theory to Practice and has published in the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Management, the Journal of Management Studies, and the Journal of Business Venturing, among others.
Amason is associate editor of the Journal of Management Studies and was previously senior associate editor of the Journal of Management. He has served on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Management, and Entrepreneurship, Theory & Practice.
His teaching and consulting has focused on strategic management, strategic decision making, and top management processes. Dean Amason is on the boards of Georgia Oak Partners and the Russian Foundation for Population Health & Recovery. He has done consulting with Exide Technologies, Primewest Energy, Rosetta Marketing, Johnson & Johnson, Computer Associates, Novartis, Tenet Healthcare, Nortel, and Advanced Micro Devices.
Dean Amason is an award-winning executive educator, who was named Terry College MBA Teacher of the Year in 2001, 2003, and 2005. He received the Terry College Teacher of the Year Award in 2006.
