Michael Reksulak is an Associate Professor of Economics at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Reksulak joined the faculty of Georgia Southern in 2003. He earned his Ph.D. (2002) and his M.A. in Economics (1998) from the University of Mississippi as well as undergraduate degrees in European Management Science from the University of Kent at Canterbury (United Kingdom) and in Economics from the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena (Germany).

Prior to coming to Georgia Southern, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi (2002-03) and a Research Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Research into Economic Systems (1998-99) in Jena, Germany. His research focuses on topics in public finance and industrial regulation. Dr. Reksulak received the 2004 Bank of America Faculty Award, the 2007 T.J. Morris, Jr., Faculty Award for Excellence in Research, the 2008 W.A. & Emma Lou Crider Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2009 Charles R. Gibbs Faculty Award. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the Southern Economic Association, and the Public Choice Society.

Dr. Reksulak is also active as a Major in the Army Reserves. He has completed several tours of duty with the NATO-peacekeeping forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Before turning his sights on economics, he had worked as a full-time journalist.
