Godfrey Gibbison is an Associate Professor of economics in the COBA at GSU. He earned a PhD in economics in 1998 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, his MS in Agricultural Economics at Iowa State University in 1995 and his B.Sc. in Economics at the University at the University of the West Indies in 1992. He taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Centre College (KY) between 1999 and 2000, and as a Lecturer in Economics at the University of the West Indies between 2000 and 2002. He joined GSU in August 2002 and was named the Director of the School of Economic Development in the summer of 2009.

His research work focuses on household decision making in less developing countries. In particular, he focuses on factors that affect the welfare of children.
