Bill Yang is an Associate Professor of Economics in the College of Business Administration at Georgia Southern University.   He earned his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Iowa in 1993, his M.A. in Economics at the Queen's University, Kingston, Canada,  in 1987, and his B.Sc. in Mathematics and Statistics at Wuhan University, PRC,  in 1982.  He taught as an assistant professor at the Flinders University of South Australia from 1993 to 1997, and at Minot State University from 1997 to 2000.  Being on leave from 1996 to 1997, he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Iowa.  He joined Georgia Southern in 2000.

His research work focuses on applied microeconomic theory, topics involving industrial organization, micro-foundations for macroeconomics, and more recently, behavioral economics/finance with applications in the economics of education and financial markets.  His research has been published in the International Journal of Industrial Organization, the Journal of Institutional and Theoretic Economics, Journal of Economics (Zeitschrift fur Nationalokonomie), Australian Economic Papers, the Journal of Economic Education, and the International Review of Law and Economics.
