Misty
L. Loughry, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Management
Dr. Loughry joined Georgia Southern University as an Associate
Professor of Management in August 2007. She was previously
an Assistant Professor of Management at Clemson University
where she taught strategy at the undergraduate and M.B.A.
levels. She received her Ph.D. in management from the University
of Florida where she also taught strategy and organizational
behavior. In addition to strategy and organizational behavior,
she has teaching interests in principled negotiations and
teamwork. Her particular area of specialty is control in organizations,
especially social controls such as supervision and peer control.
She also studies peer evaluations of teamwork and has worked
with colleagues to develop a web-based system for peer evaluation
called the Comprehensive Assessment of Team Member Effectiveness
(www.CATME.org) under a grant from the National Science Foundation.
Prior to beginning her academic career, Dr. Loughry worked
for ten years in the banking field, holding positions including
credit analyst, branch manager and Assistant Vice President
of Small Business Lending. Her research has been published
in journals such as Educational & Psychological Measurement,
Journal of Managerial Issues, Information and Management,
and Business Horizons.
