Department of Finance and Quantitative Analysis

Greetings and welcome to the Department of Finance and Quantitative Analysis home page. Located in the College of Business Administration (COBA), the Department consists of 22 faculty members who provide instruction, research and service in the disciplines of finance, quantitative analysis, and operations management. The faculty is engaged in diverse and timely applied and basic research and institutional, professional and public service that supports our mission of the highest possible instructional quality.

Courses of Study

The primary degree offering in the department is the B.B.A. degree in Finance. To provide a variety of financial career specializations, students may choose the General Finance emphasis or one of three specialty emphasis areas in Risk Management and Insurance, Financial Services, or Personal Financial Planning. The department is also planning to add a new emphasis area in Real Estate during 2007.

The department also houses a specialty emphasis area for the Management degree, the B.B.A. degree in Management with an emphasis in Operations Management.

In addition to these degree programs, the department also manages four of the major service courses in the junior core for all business students: BUSA 3131 Business Statistics, BUSA 3132 Quantitative Analysis, FINC 3131 Principles of Corporate Finance, and MGNT 3430 Operations Management. Similarly, the department provides educational support for the statistical and quantitative portions of the Masters of Business Administration as well as advanced courses in Finance and Operations Management.

You will also have the opportunity to learn about faculty members who have dedicated themselves to the life-long study and teaching of their subjects.
