Dr. Tom Noland
Associate Professor of Accounting

Tom Noland is an Associate Professor of Accountancy at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Noland joined the Georgia Southern Faculty in 2001 and primarily teaches graduate and undergraduate auditing. Tom has previously served as the School of Accountancy’s Internship Coordinator and as the adviser to Beta Alpha Psi. Dr Noland holds professional certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM). Dr. Noland has been awarded the College of Business Administration’s Brown & Williamson Faculty Award and the School of Accountancy’s Research Award. Tom served as an Academic Fellow in the Securities & Exchange Commission’s Office of Chief Accountant in 2006-2007. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Noland worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Nashville, TN. Dr. Noland holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve and has over 20 years of active and reserve service. LTC Noland is a distinguished military graduate of the University of Kentucky ROTC program where he was the recipient of the George C. Marshall Award. Dr. Noland’s Ph.D. is from the Patterson School of Accountancy at the University of Mississippi where he was awarded both university and dissertation fellowships. Tom earned his MSM (MBA) at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
