W. Asbury Stembridge, Jr. is the Executive Director of the Medcen Community Health Foundation, Inc., the development entity of the Central Georgia Health System (CGHS) of Macon, GA. Additionally, Asbury serves as a registered lobbyist at the State capitol representing CGHS. Prior to joining Medcen in 2000, Asbury served as the Director of Physician Services and Recruitment at the Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG), the flagship hospital of CGHS. As a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Asbury has been associated with MCCG since1986. He earned the recognition of Certified Medical Staff Recruiter by the National Institute of Physician Recruitment and Retention and served as President of the Georgia Society of Healthcare Physician Services and Recruitment, a section of the Georgia Hospital Association. A 1977 graduate of
Georgia Southern, Asbury has also served as a Banking Officer for Georgia
Bank and Trust and Executive Vice President for Clark Memorials, Inc. As a hobby, Asbury participated in and graduated from the Jeff Justice Comedy Workshoppe and Advanced Comedy Workshoppe. He is the Creator of "Live at the Cardiac Café" a comedy club and picnic to benefit the American Heart Association in Bibb County. He is also the Creator and Executive Vice President of Triple C Productions (Clean Corporate Comedy), a subsidiary of Stembridge Investments, Inc., a corporate booking agency for companies in search of standup comedians and other entertainers. Lastly, Asbury authored a humorous paperback, "You Know It's Time for a Second Opinion When,,,", the Official Instruction Book For How Not to Choose your Doctor. Asbury is married
to Helen Gibson Stembridge, also a COBA member, and has two children –
Laura, 22 and Asbury, III, 13.
