From travel to job security sales careers offer many attractive benefits. For example, in a sales career you will rarely see two days that are alike! If you like change, challenge, and limited supervision sales is the career for you. Some of the most notable advantages of a sales career include:

Opportunity:
Recruiting and retaining good salespeople is critical to the long-term success of most organizations. In recent years, more and more businesses have begun looking to college campuses for their sales recruits. For example, the Center for Business and Industrial Marketing at Georgia State University reports that 75 percent of its marketing undergraduates go into sales careers. In fact, a recent study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) found that 30 percent of the job offers made in the 2004-2005 school year to undergraduate students nationwide were for sales positions. Currently, over 20 percent of our marketing majors complete the requirements for the Sales and Sales Management Emphasis suggests that demand for our selling students is quite high.

Compensation Potential:
The opportunity created by this demand is not expected to diminish in the near future as the U.S. Department of Labor predicts that the business-to-business selling occupation will grow by approximately 14 percent over the next decade, making it one of the fastest growing occupations. While many of the other fast growth areas are in the lower paid service industries, the Department of Labor rates these new sales positions as “Very High” in salary potential. In fact, according to a recent survey the average annual compensation for a top performing sales representative is $161,501! Advancement:
To be successful you must know your company and its products, know your customers and their businesses, and know your competition. As a result, successful salespeople make wonderful candidates for upper management positions. In fact, it has been said that more CEOs come from sales than from any other career path!
