Georgia Southern MBA Global Business Strategy Team Recognized

MBADTRATOne of the student teams in the Georgia Southern University MBA capstone class, Global Business Strategy, recently finished in the top 4% of the approximately 1,200 graduate level student teams worldwide that competed in the CAPSIM Capstone business simulation.

Randy Brunson, Kimberly Collins, Phil Helmey, Matthew Lovett, and Matthew Repella collaborated to achieve their remarkable simulation performance. This group was not the only Georgia Southern MBA student team that was highly successful competing in the simulation this fall semester. Half of the teams in the class scored in the top 10% worldwide for the final round of the simulation.

The academically rigorous simulation, widely used by MBA programs throughout the world, involves decision-making related to running a fictitious electronics component manufacturing company for several time periods. Teams make decisions related to all of the functional areas of a company during the course of the simulation by utilizing complex data from a variety of sources and employing analytic tools taught during their MBA education. The decision-making processes required by the simulation prepare the students for the decision-making responsibilities that upper level management typically encounters in their leadership roles.

According to Dr. John Leaptrott, the professor for the class, “Having such positive, objective feedback from the simulation confirms our view that the Georgia Southern MBA is a top quality program that attracts very talented students who are seeking an MBA educational experience that is highly relevant to their careers.”
