The First-Year Experience (FYE) at Georgia Southern is designed to provide new college students the tools they need to succeed at the university. The mission of the program is to aid students in becoming self-directed learners. BIG is seeking to develop a course to expose freshman to entrepreneurial learning. Students in the course will discuss the basics of idea generation, opportunity recognition, business planning, and salesmanship. The program will also serve as a vehicle to expose students to The Next BIG Thing Competition, Innovation Incubator, and FabLab.
In 2013, students from Dr. Dora Bock’s Marketing Research class worked with BBRED to survey the student body. Roughly 25 percent of the students surveyed indicated a strong interest in entrepreneurship.
