Entrepreneur Lecture Series

The Entrepreneur Lecture Series was developed by the Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership as a way to showcase the entrepreneurial spirit. Particular attention is placed on the growing field of social entrepreneurship. The annual event features a keynote speaker followed by a networking reception. Typically 150-250 people attend each lecture. CELL will continue to partner to bring well-known, successful entrepreneurs to share their experiences with students and the community. This lecture series plays a great role in helping to harness and grow the entrepreneurial culture in the region.

Students, faculty, and the larger Southeast Georgia innovation and entrepreneurship community are encouraged to attend this series. Past speakers include Blake Mycoskie, Founder and Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS; Jeff Hollender, Co-founder and former CEO of Seventh Generation; Hannah Davis, Founder and CEO of BANGS shoes; and Lucy Beard, Founder and CEO of Feetz.

BIG has partnered with Georgia Southern’s Center for Sustainability to bring this year’s speaker, Tom Szaky, Founder and CEO of TerraCycle. Founded in 2001 by Tom Szaky, then a 20-year-old Princeton University freshman, TerraCycle, Inc. began producing organic fertilizer by packaging liquified “worm poop” in used soda bottles. Since the inauspicious start, TerraCycle has become one of the fastest-growing green companies in the world. Tom will be sharing his story on April 7, 2016 at the PAC. (time TBA)
